Nature Calls!
Nature Calls! is a CPAWS-NS led program that introduces wilderness experiences to groups of underprivileged youth from urban areas in Nova Scotia.
Its objective is to foster leadership skills and environmental awareness amongst the participants in a genuine wilderness setting. Previous trips have gone to Kejimkujik National Park and involved wilderness games, guided hikes, interactive leadership activities, and opportunities for quiet reflection.
This year, CPAWS-NS is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halifax region to visit some of the protected areas around the HRM that we have helped protect, or that need more protection.
Over May, June, July and August, CPAWS-NS and a group of matches (a big brother and little brother) will be visiting the Herring Cove Backlands, the Blue Mountain Birch Cove Lakes, the Waverley-Salmon River crowbar trail and the Five Bridges area. Stay tuned for further stories from our adventures.
