2008 Beach Clean-up a huge success!
01 Oct 08
MacCormack's Beach in Eastern Passage received its share of attention and care this fall as over 30 CPAWS-NS staff and volunteers came out for the annual Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-up.
CPAWS-NS would like to extend a big thank you on behalf of sensitive coastal ecosystems to all the dedicated people who came out, and especially to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halifax region who's support and enthusiasm brought out many people and lots of effort.
Totals from this year include:
120 lbs of garbage collected including;
425 cigarettes, 46 rope/pieces of rope, 85 cups or pieces of cutlery, 100 food wrappers, 109 plastic bags, 56 beverage caps, 39 straws, 10 shotgun shells and many more items.
Some peculiar items collected were a pair of suspenders, an Elmo hat, a toy confederate flag and a shoe!
Thanks for helping to make this event a success, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
