Socio-economic study released for new wilderness areas

The Nova Scotia Department of Environment has just released a socio-economic analysis examining three new wilderness areas proposed for protection, (1) Blue Mountain – Birch Cove Lakes, (2) Ship Harbour Long Lake, and (3) Shelburne River.

The release of this socio-economic study is required before these new wilderness areas can be officially designated.

The government is accepting comments from the public until February 27, 2009
