SMUES is having a movie night! Come out to experience The Nature of Things: “Canada’s Amazon: A Boreal Forest Journey”.
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Reception 6:00pm, Movie 7:00pm
McNally Theatre Auditorium
McNally Main, Saint Mary’s University
923 Robie St.
Join David Suzuki, Ken Dryden, Justin Trudeau and friends on an epic journey down the beautifully preserved Nahanni River in the Northwest Territories and the relatively industrially exploited Athabasca River in Northern Alberta. Discover the significance of the Canadian boreal forest not only for the benefits of eco-tourism but more importantly for the health of the surrounding watersheds, and learn about the increasing fragility of these areas and the resources available to protect them.
Don’t miss the pre-movie reception where you can enjoy free food and drinks and enter to win these awesome prizes:
- P’lovers Gift Certificate
- Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring”
- Green Goodie Bags
This is also your chance to meet the friendly and helpful members of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Nova Scotia Protected Areas, and your Saint Mary’s University Environmental Society to ask questions and learn about what’s being done for wilderness protection in our province.
Admission by cash donation. All proceeds go to the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Nova Scotia Chapter and their efforts in wilderness protection across the province. Brought to you with the help of the Canadian International Development Association.
See you there!
Act. Donate. Hike. WildernessAid 2010 is also coming up on Saturday, February 6th!
