About us
The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s leading voice for wilderness conservation. We are a charitable, non-governmental organization working to protect at least half of Canada’s natural environment. For over 45 years, CPAWS has played a leading role in securing millions of hectares of Canada’s spectacular wilderness.
CPAWS-Nova Scotia is a local voice for conservation in Nova Scotia. We work to protect the rich natural diversity of our province, on land and in the ocean. As part of a national conservation organization with over 20,000 committed members, CPAWS-NS has helped to conserve over 600,000 hectares of Nova Scotia's forests in parks and protected areas, and important marine ecosystems, including The Gully and deep-sea coral reefs. We are a grassroots organization that works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and uses science, education, and advocacy to approach conservation issues.
